The challenge

The challenge

The web was first built in 2008 and it consisted of a feed of Online Reviews extracted from different sources such as Tripadvisor and Booking. As the company kept growing, the platform also needed to expand its product diversity (Online Reviews, Guest Surveys, Semantic analysis and Cases Management).

ReviewPro had different kinds of users with different types of missions. Depending on the users’ role, their needs differ: some need organised data to get to conclusions, and others the ability to generate custom reports and communicate within the organization. Other more operational users just wanted to track incidents from guest feedback and respond to them.

On the other hand, Reviewpro has accounts with just individual property, but others are huge organizations with hundreds of establishments to deal with. Due to these different ranges of users, it’s difficult to present an easy and valuable interface for all. The challenge was not just to migrate the different pages, but to empower all classes of users with new functionalities, simplifying the experience and improving accessibility.

To accomplish that, I assisted the team on the following:

  • Change the platform to a responsive interface, to work perfectly on all devices.

  • Improve the workflow and navigation, and guide the user to the most relevant information.

  • Redefine the architecture of settings, so they are easier to set.

  • Reduce loading times and make loading times enjoyable with the use of animation.

  • Make the interface more user-friendly by simplifying the tool and using progressive disclosure techniques.

  • Document and define the components library, so the interface is consistent.

  • Enliven the interface according to the brand, by refreshing the look and feel.

  • Improve existing functionalities and allow a customised product based on client branding, eg. a Survey builder tool.

  • Implement new features, like a management tool to generate and track operational cases, and internal messaging.

Solution

In one year time, we accomplished the whole tech migration from version 2.0 to 3.0.

Develop new Dashboards and Reports based on clients' feedback.

We also delivered a hybrid app that contains all major products.

The increase in user satisfaction made the consolidated start-up maintain and get new clients such as Melia Hotels International and Radisson Hotel Group. As a result, Reviewpro was acquired by China’s Shiji group in 2017.
